Are rockets even worth using?

Given how expensive and/or fairly rare they are, wouldn't it be better to use grenades or arrows or bullets or even magic? Especially considering rockets can't deal status effects without the Frost set...

EDIT: for that matter, for 5 gold, land mines should really instakill...

Nobody answered me...and with ranged weapons like shotbow+holy arrows, star cannon, sniper rifle, or uzi/tactical shotgun, I've never bothered using rockets. Or "grenades/mines"...

Rocket launcher + type IV rockets = great for clearing tiles/building tunnels.

rockets it's cool! All terraria is full of useless Gimmicks! Main reason 2 use Rockets ist fun. Actually, like playing terraria at all.

I don't use "useless gimmicks". My inventory is jam-packed as is...

You mean Rocket III?

And Rocket III costs a whopping 1 silver.

In comparison, the Stake Launcher's stakes are cheaper (3/20 the cost of rocket III, the price of a silver bullet), faster, pierce enemies, fire more times per second, and only do 5 less damage per shot than a Rocket Launcher with Rocket III ammo.
