Platinum coin glitch

Ok, i've been playing on a server with my brother for a while now and recently we discovered that twice a platinum coin has just vanished on us. We were quick stacking all our cash into one chest and when I noticed we went from 1 plat 95 gold to 1p 20g out of nowhere after just doing a pirate invasion I got curious. I asked my brother if he has spent it on anything and he said no and then we went to farming more pirate invasions.

This time I watched it stack up to 2p but when I went back just a couple minutes later (with my brother nowhere near) it was short 1p again. Is this a known bug and does anybody know how we can avoid it?

I can somewhat confirm this happening.
Myself have been playing with my brother funny enough. And both of us have been asking the other if any money has been spent. And none of us has spent any.

So money sure is mysteriously gone..

Well at least it's not just me but sadly that doesn't do anything to bring my 2p back. I was gonna buy a clentaminator and wipe out the crimson in the middle of my jungle too. Oh well, that's life I guess.

At least I got a discount card from the pirate invasion so it will only be 1p60g when I get the cash together for it again. Speaking of which, anybody know if it's possible to stack discount cards? My guess is no since the game doesn't let you equip multiple of any other accessory but it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

I hope this will be fixed. This has happened to me 2 or 3 times now with the same reaction "Have you spent any of our money!!!"

Does anyone know a workaround?

This bug has been around for a while, and yes, there's a workaround.

The bug: when quick-stacking money, if you stack 100 of a coin and it rolls over to a coin of the next highest value, the client sees that as having worked correctly, but the server doesn't see the higher coin, so when the chest is closed and re-opened, that coin disappears.

This can be avoided by simply double-clicking each relevant stack of coins (picking up onto the cursor, then placing it back into the slot) after quick-stacking money. This synchronizes the server with the coins the client sees, and allows them to be saved properly.

Interesting. good to know. So I can consolidate all of my plat back in one chest again so long as i'm either not using quick stack to do it or i'm using that workaround after quick stacking. That's a hell of an expensive bug to have been around for a while though...

Yep, it's been around since the 1.05/1.06 days. To my knowledge it only happens in multiplayer, thanks to the differences in local interaction vs. client/server interaction. Thus it could elude detection by people doing things in single-player, such as I'd assume Redigit does during development.
Would be nice if it were fixed, but at least the workaround is easy and simple.

You ca nalso use a piggy bank with quick stacking since the coins are saved client-side using a Piggy.

Yeah but that doesn't provide access to the coins for other people you may be playing with. I don't mind if people burn the cash on something but I do mind when the server steals it for no reason...
