Can other people see same explored area?

I've been playing with my friend in lan and I have explored a bigger area than him. Is it possible to some how reveal my map to him?

i believe he just sees what he explored and there isn't a way for him to see what you've seen

Every character has his/her own map.

There really should be an option to share maps. Maybe a hotkey that you use when standing next to someone else, if they comply, like with PvP, you get each others map.
Or just by default anything they see, you see too.

This seperate map thing was pretty disappointing when I first started playing 1.2.

I can understand that some people like it the way it is, so I'd rather it be a settings option, like the ability to hide the map is, but I do wish it was there, somehow.

in solo you can just copy your map file to your other characters. That's what I did when I was "Done" with my new world and wanted to go back to my old character. But it would be a bigger hassle to do with multiple players.

I think that just allows you to give your map to somebody who doesn't have one or they'll lose their own? Or am I mistaking that? Never tried it tbh, I only have 1 character.

well yeah obviously it overwrites the map of that area they already had...
