What does a jungle Key Mold do?

I was shaping the underground Jungle in preparationi for fighting Plantera again when this item dropped. I have no idea what it does.

You combine it with a Temple key from Plantera and 5 Souls of Might/Fright/Sight to turn it into a Jungle Key. A Jungle key is used to open a Jungle chest in the dungeon. The jungle chest gives you a 100% chance at a piranha gun.

It is to make the jungle key which will open the jungle chest in the dungeon givening you some nice items

Yes, you need to kill Plantera once for each key mold you get.

yes. Not that big of a deal through. Just get a regen + ironskin potion combo along with a good weapon and you'll be fine.

Golden shower also makes this somewhat easier because it lower's Plantera's defence but you should switch to a more powerful weapon after using it

I fought plantera 4 times so far and was only successful on the last try. I was armed in full hallowed ranged gear, megashark with a good subscript, crystal and chlorophyte bullets, iron skin, regen, swiftness, thorns, soup potions, the rain cloud staff, and my trusty black kitten with a witch hat and a broom... and even then I was almost destroyed.

after the third time I failed, I literally hallowed out an arena to fight plantera in that was very very large. Enough for me to try to kite it effectively.

You're fighting Plantera and you've not upgraded to Chlorophyte armour yet? That's a bit... backward?
