you need to calm your tits because im trying to get tmod loader to work for my brother, who has the game from my steam library
not everyone whos having this problem has pirated the game
I assume your using the option where you give access to the game via the family account option (I forget what it's called since i don't use it), so your brother can play your games from your account on his account without having to buy it.
My experience with the one time i tried to play terraria and have my brother play it through this setup at the same time to play together was that while one of the accounts is playing the game, the other can't. In other words my brother would start up terraria through the family play thing and it would show on my account that the game was running. Since it was running, i didn't have the play button and could not play terraria till he stopped playing or i kicked him off so i could play.
So your brother will likely have to purchase terraria on his own account for you to play together or you'll have to find some other workaround. Unless they've changed how this works. (I last tried this 2 years ago so it's possible though unlikely that it doesn't work this way anymore).
For him to use tmodloader on his account, he has to own terraria on his account. He can't use it via Terraria from your account. This is because Tmod will not read your account from the family share. It will only read Terraria on his account. Since he doesn't own it on his account, Tmod can't find Terraria, which it needs to work, and so you get your error.
Again to run tmod on his account, he must own terraria on his account. It will not work or access terraria through your account to run Tmod.
(sorry for the text wall. I'm not good at condensing my explanations for these sorts of things.)
RIght now there are no work arounds , Tmod requires you to "own" the game , just having it on your account from a share won't work.
Terraria does frequently go on sale for 50% off , it's very much worth the 5 bucks to play with mods , they add a ton of new content and quality of life.
Tmod is a free download so you can get it on your account easily, but, i reiterate, if you don't own Terraria on YOUR account, Tmod will not work in Steam.
Tmod looks for Terraria on your computer so even if you don't go through steam to get Tmod, you would still need Terraria installed on your computer which is something family share doesn't actually do for you. Family share doesn't install the full game on your computer which is a necessity to get Tmod to work.
If you can install the full Terraria game on your computer through means other than steam, you may still be able to get Tmod to work as long as you know how to direct Tmod to the location where Terraria is installed so it can open Terraria as this is a necessary step for Tmod during it's start up.
