Easiest way.
Yesterday I set my time to Dec 18 so I can experience the existing Xmas event before the new update and I haven't had any problems.
Maybe you read the whole thing before replying hmm?
I did Mr. Smarty Pants.
That's why I said "IMHO i'd just set the system clock and deal with it. " and "...and I haven't had any problems."
If your playing Terraria you should be occupied enough that you don't really need to do much online right?
It's not hard to change the sys time, play the game, and change it back later.
PLUS this is what everyone else does... And you know you want to be just. like. everyone. else.
Dryad sells pumpkin seeds year round so you can still craft the amulet to summon the Pumpkin Moon event and get all the loot from that.
Some of the costumes are kinda cool.
Other than costumes, 2 pets, and the bathook, there isn't much else to it.
You can say you read his post, but I don't believe you.
To OP: I'm curious, when you changing the system time, can you type out what some of the certificate errors say? Maybe finding why the certificates are giving you trouble could help.
It gives him cert errors in his internet browser. Not quite related to Terraria. Don't need to have an internet browser open to play the game.
Thanks for nothing.
I have to agree with OP.
If a question reads "How do I do 'X' without doing 'Y'", "Do 'Y' anyway" is not a valid response. They are already aware of 'Y'. Telling them to do it anyway and deal with adverse side-effects doesn't add new information to the discussion, and needlessly wastes time, absorbing the flow of conversation.
Anyway, if you have a secondary device, like a laptop with internet/wifi, or second computer, you could run a dedicated server from there and change the date on the system without too much hassle, since you would use internet on your primary device. Generally running a dedicated server from a second device is the best option with any game, but obviously that implies you have some kind of second device, which most people don't. I suppose it also implies you're OK with running a server. (I mentioned server because it's specific to my situation)
There's probably some techy solution to the problem, like I bet it would be relatively easy to make a mod specific for Terraria that makes it think it's a certain date, but I don't know how to make mods for Terraria right now.
But I do know of one. Use TShock. You don't have to know how to properly host a server. Just run it for yourself. I know that there's a command for setting the server to Halloween mode, and also one for Christmas mode.
Better late than never, thanks.
All those useless replies, I don't get why people feel entitled to shame someone for wanting a solution other than the one THEY use. This is not how knowledge & learning works.
