Chest mannegment?

Allright, i give up...iv been trying to figure ou how to mannage my chests, what items i should store with in the chests so its easy to find items that i might want to store to use later for building items or for the town etc.
How do you guys stor your items in chests, how meany chests do you use?
some advice on how to mannage chests would be greatly appricyated.

Right now my chests are

1. The ore /bars chest
2. The flowers chest (all things for potions and dyes)
3. The potions chest
4. The wood chest
5. The spare accessories chest
6, The corruption / crimson items chest (eg lens for making eye, ore you get from killing bosses)
7. vanity items chest
8. Building materials chest (doors, anviles, tables, painting)
9.Random stuff (right now its things like cobweb, rope, and throwable weapons like grenades)
10, Extra weapons chest.

I'm sure i have more but thats generall how I've done it though I'll most likely sub section everything, made myself 3 floors of basement that can fit about 10 chests each so iv got room im just working out the best way to find it. This is 1 thing I like about minecraft, easy to each signs above chest. Even though I know more or less where stuff is finding the exact chest is still guess work a lot of the time =(.

Best bet would most likely be dedicate each floor too 1 thing. like 1 floor of stuff you mine like ores, 1 floor for potion stuff like the plants and potions, another for all building materials such as blocks walls and door, and so on.

I have 4 chests in my bedroom for each class of weapons and accesories. Then I have my pre-hardmode and Hardmode chests with ores, gems and souls in them by my crafting area. Then in storage I have:
potions and ingredients
mob drops
blocks
dirt and stone
decorative
dungeon stuff
themed stuff
In the Painter, dye trader, and mechanic's houses, I have a chest for things they would have (paint, dye stuff, wiring).

i have alot of chests but it keeps me very organized

I paint my chests a color relevant to each biome and store biome specific items in them. I also place chests in each of the npc's rooms and place items in them depending on what that npc sells. It makes searching for items a lot easier.
