Terraria makes my laptop very hot
My temp monitor says that the laptop spikes at 80c after I play Terraria. Is this normal for Terraria? My cpu's max temp is 100c but still thats hot!

I seriously hope something's wrong with your temprature gague, or you're mistaking Celcius for Farenheight/vice versa. 80C is a VERY dangerous temprature and I would suggest not using your laptop at all until you fix it.
And remember to always have your laptop on a flat surface that doesn't heat very easily. If you're using it on anything fabric-y (blankets are the most common cause of this), as it could be blocking an air intake.

That's not normal at all....if it actually gets that hot DO NOT PLAY IT!!! That's pretty dangerous.

It could be terraria's map size, I'm playing on a large map.

Yeah started a small world and it keeps my laptop around 55-65c.

80C is not "dangerous". It's pushing the limits of what a computer can run at steadily, but the laptop will shut itself off long before it's in danger of getting fried (or frying you hopefully).

If you were idling at 80 I would be concerned; but under a full load on a standard laptop...not surprising at all.

Clean out your air intakes man! Get a can of compressed air and blast it into air intakes... And if it really was 80C, I wouldn't be suprised if the plastic would be warped (Unless you have an aluminum laptop) But still, Air them out, and don't be suprised when it looks like a cloud shoots out, because that would be dust.

I play on a laptop and I noticed mine got quite hot on a medium map. I use a laptop cooler pad/cushion thingy and if it gets hot take a break for a bit. Its just part of laptop gaming.

My laptop barely heats up when I play games... it just gets sort of hot when I play games like KSP. It's not even like I have a gaming laptop- It is pretty decent, but seriously guys, AIR OUT YOUR AIR INTAKES!

80C is nothing to be too concerned about. You do not want to run at those temps all the time but it is not going to hurt the laptop in the short term. Some of you need to do a little research before you offer advice.
