why cant I buy anything?

I have a lot of NPC's at my home but I cant buy anything from them, I try clicking on the item I want and nothing happens, I have the money and inventory space but I still cant buy the item... how do I fix this?

nope, I tried that and holding it, and holding left, and holding both, and button mashing the hell out of the both of them, i simply cant buy things... :/

heart lanterns must be placed UNDER a block, like Chandeliers.

for some reason the lantern dissappears when I place it.
