Bananarangs are more powerful than light discs?
I know this is a rare drop from a rare enemy (I beleive it's during a blood moon, forgive me if i'm wrong) the clown, but still, it's a banana. Although it could be made of a stronger material than hollow, perhaps stronger than chlorophyte, but in all seriousness, it's a fruit. Unless all of the monsters' share a common weakness of fruit, giant, sharp-edged, circular sawblades made of a enchanted material should be stronger, atleast, in my opinion. I don't know if this is intentional and is a joke from the developers or it's a mistake in programming. Keep in mind, I find this humorous: Smacking a giant, mechanical worm of death with a fruit, you would think the banana(rang) would smash against the side of one of it's body segments and be completely unusable...wait what am i saying? This is 'Terraria'! A lot of things don't make sense, like 'The Eye of Cthulu' and 'The Brain of Cthulu' (PC exclusive), where do they come from? Where's Cthulu himself? Anyways, back to the main topic, will the developers keep the damage higher, proving that it was on purpose or will they see the flaw (If it is one) and change it in the next update? Give me feedback on this, i'll be glad to see possible answers to this or topics related to this one! Thanks for reading this by the way!

Did you just make a paragraph of 15 lines just to state your opinion on a banana weapon?

Yes.

How do you know it's a banana? Maybe it's enchanted death titanium!

You also have to out into perspective that they can't be auto thrown and don't richochet, which is also a major drawback compared to the light discs... However, it's far easier to get, you can stack more, and it does more damage, so the light discs might be obsolete, as you'd need to kill a hardmode boss a few times to get 4 (Or however many stack)

This is true, you raise a good point, but even so, do you think a fruit is deadlier than a sawblade type boomerang?

That is true.. But to validate the point, we must first know the malleability of Hallowed bars, which must be quite tough, but also soft enough to be worked with on a mythril anvil. However, we must take into note that they used to be craft with previous armor sets and souls, or swords and souls, etc., so souls must make the material more workable, or rather 'softer'... To add on to this, light discs currently use Hallowed bars and souls, so we have to assume hallowed material is more tough than we previously thought. But, We don't know if monsters have a resistance to "Softened" Hallowed bars, or a weakness to fruit, perhaps.

I really don't know where I'm going with this.

same reason why pieces of candy corn are deadlier than musket balls

Honestly, I don't know also, but still, a good point nonetheless, but also, it requires 5 souls of might, being from a heartless, evil, giant, mechanical worm I would think these souls strengthen the bars aswell the souls of light, I mean come on you have to fight rejected blue men group! (Chaos Elementals), enchanted, flying, ghostly swords, giant versions of the worm, pink bats, pink slimes, and even rarely a flying hog of death! Not to mention that pink is obviously the manliest color which in retrospect would make the hollowed bars, super sayan like.

...I also don't know where i'm going with this...

Candy Corn > Musket Balls
Bananarang > Light Discs
Gold > Iron
I guess we could say the conclusion might be:
Terraria needs to RE Think it's LOGIC!

They are better if you can click faster than light discs can be thrown, that's it.

True but...it's a fruit, that's what baffles me.

It's an intentional comical item. If the item were to be inferior, then despite being comical, it wouldn't be practical to use it and would simply be discarded or used very miniminally. By making it a rare drop and giving it a comical setup it, it can be considered both practical and comical. I could be wrong, but haven't other items appeared throughout the game from before the update that made little sense or were plainly comical/silly?

If you need a real reason, then I can think of none better than: "Because Terraria."
