Where are golden chests?

My friends say theres very good stuff in them and i have been searching and minign for them for ages. Where can you find them?

i wouldn't say they have very good stuff in them (atleast the one's in caves), but you can find them in dungeons and underground in caves. ( the one's in dungeons actually do have pretty good stuff)

Common places to find somewhat good and useful or interesting items --

a) oceans on either end of the map
b) sky islands
c) jungle biome
d) dungeon
e) shadow or crimson orbs
f) hell -- used to be better but at least you can still get something .... from the 1 or 2 chests that you find

other than those areas, i haven't seen enough snow biomes to say for sure if there are good stuff there in general, but definitely check them out also. and finally, besides all those places, you can find more gold chests by being deeper in the sub-terrainean areas. it's possible to mine all day long in the upper levels and not find any good treasure, so be sure to navigate all up and down, left and right, during your explorations.

Not too much, really. Most of those chests are in the ice cavern level, and the only worthwhile item out of them are Ice Skates so you can not slide or break through the ice by falling. Other than that, you'll find the usual iron, gold, potions, coins, etc.

Everywhere.

Golden chests are just about everywhere besides the Surface.

You just aren't looking hard enough.
