how to not get bored?
anyoen have any suggestions on how to make it fun? where the fun starts? I got it all excited but keep getting so flat out bored with in an hour in I just cant play. Would say maybe the genre isnt for me but I can play others fine. I dunno what it is about this game but it just bores me to death. I can't help but think maybe i am doing something wrong or missing something. Anyone share what they do from start onwards?

well let's hear what you have done so far, and we'll be able to tell you what else you need to do.

sometimes it's getting over a hump in the game, and then the game will be interesting again.

other times it's just about going mining and digging to discover things, and let the actual progression just hang there for a while until you're ready to go at it again.

and then really, it's also OK to walk away from the game for a while and come back to it in some future time.

People often post that they are getting bored with the game. That's natural. It means that whatever you came to the game to do, you DID. You got out of it what you wanted, and now you're done.

People like me who play the game 1000+ hours are folks who find the ongoing mechanics engaging. I actually LIKE mining, and trying to complete collections, and thinking of ways to display them. So I'm not bored when I'm doing those things, I'm having fun. I also get a lot of enjoyment out of researching different things about the game, it's mechanics, etc. That keeps me interested because there seems to always be another question I'm asking myself that I'm very curious to figure out the answer to. Like: how skinny/tall can you make "suitable housing", so that it might fit inside the trunk of a World Tree? Or "is it possible for me to play the game without ever BUILDING npc housing, but just using sky island houses, underground houses, and the World Tree as my village? Many people ask themselves whether they can complete the game using only their original 100 health points, or using no armor, to increase their fighting/dodging skills.

But in the end, either a game makes you happy, or it doesn't. There is no shame in admitting a game just isn't for you.

I got addicted pretty quickly. There are *so* many ways to progress your character and world, it's like you never have enough time to do everything you want to do.

If you prefer more short-term action, this game might not be for you.
