duplicating items..
I know this will kill the fun of the game.. but I just want to share it.. =) stop reading if you don't want me to spoiled the fun and joy of playing the game...

I just found out that we can actually duplicate items by clt C and clt V the world file of my world file located at doc -> my game -> terraria -> world -> world name.wld
since our chac can travell and bring items around from world to world, therefor all I did was duplicate a world and loot all the stuff in it and bring them back to my primary world... as a result I have duplicate the items..and now I have a chest full of 1000+ platinum coins after repeating the steps several times.. lol
and I was even being suspected to be using inventory edit by my friend on a server because of being too "generous"(I give every thing for free if they ask..) ><"

There's editors that do that, I'm assuming their interface is more friendly than directly opening and editing world files.

You might not have been using "inventory edit" but you have been using inventory editing, which is basically the same thing.

Someone else might simply have made backups of their world, taken a bunch of rare items into their character's inventory and then replaced the world file with the backup (the one with all the items still in it).

It's extremely easy to cheat in this game. Shame, because many people are ruining their own gaming experience.

Oh, and they come here and complain when their world has disappeared because the file is corrupt, too. Brilliant.

It's kind of a cheat.

I remember I did this kind of thing with my old Dungeons and Dragon's PC games. Gave all my meleers my best (duplicated) melee weapon and that made things a bit easier when travelling around and getting into random fights.

So all we have to do is ctrl c ctrl v on a item

What he means is that item data for items in chests are saved in a world file, while items carried by your character are saved in a character file. So just dump an item you want to dupe in a chest, exit the game.
Copy that specific world file to a temporary location.
Re-enter the game and pick up the item(s) from the chest and exit the game.
Copy over the world file from the temporary location which had the items still saved in the chest overwriting the more recently saved world file.
You now have the items on your character and in the chest.
