cant craft axe

i have 17 copper and 200 wood and it wont let me craft an axe. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

first of all, why do you want a copper axe, you start the game with a copper axe, but if you really want it, you need 9 copper bars and 3 wood, maybe you have 17 copper ore, you need to make a furnance (20 stone, 4 wood and 3 torches) to melt the ore into copper bars.


That would be the very basic stuff, maybe you are missing the IRON ANVIL (made with 5 iron bars in a workbench)
