whats a good sword for a low level like me?

im just days into the game and want a sword i cant kill stuff really fast. Any help?

Well, how low level?

Your best bet would be to try and go for iron/lead but dig up any minerals you can.

If you really need to rush gear, going for wood/cactus would be beneficial.

The tin sword makes a great start, then upgrade to lead, since its slightly stronger than Iron, then gold to kill easier then go strait to a light bane or a blood butcher

If you get lucky, you can find an ice sword in an ice chest, or an enchanted boomerang in an above ground chest. Those are both stronger than some early game weapons and have the advantage of ranged attacks. If you can't find those, make sure you always make a broadsword, as it has a swing attack

Well, it depends on how early you are in the game.

I'd suggest a Silver or Gold Broadsword (or Tungsten/Platinum if those ores spawned instead) if you haven't crafted those yet. If you're lucky, skeletons can sometimes drop Bone Swords which are pretty good early on in the game.

if you cave dive i have found in most cases you find tungsten in underground water sources....you can either empty or mine around then place a couple blocks to box in the tungsten to mine all of it around the water.... i used to drain each pond but it takes too much time ... tungsten seems to be the best for me... when i start out i dont kill alot of enemies i block myself off from them to mine...

What I did starting a noob, was create small maps then make a sky bridge searching about 10 min per map for foating islands you can get a nifty sword that drops stars on folks heads as a ranged effect and doe 20 plus base damage, that held me off untill I found the blade of grass in the underground jungle then, I went and farmed up the other blades in the biomes and crafted the the best blade pre hardmode from them, the only hard part was getting the mats from around the lava. It took about 5 hours of farming to get all the blades. If you can get some bombs sneak into courption area underground and blow up a shadow orb and wait for metor to drop and build a laser gun and its set armor to help farm the blades.
