When you get 100 copper coins, it gives you 1 silver coin. When you get 100 silver coins, it gives you 1 gold coin. When you get 100 gold, it gives you 1 platinum coin. So it's not disappearing, you're actually getting richer.

It turned into 1 silver coin. 100 copper = 1 silver. If you want more copper (no reason for it unless you're using the coin gun) you can always craft 1 silver coin into 100 copper coins in the crafting menu.

What do you mean?
Coins get automatically converted both when picked up or used for buying.

There is no need to freak out about copper turning to silver , silver to gold etc.

It gets broken up automatically. The whole copper/silver/gold thing is basically so you can more easily keep track of how much money you have without having to squint at a 6-digit number for some of the more expensive purchases.
