More info here Terraria 2 announced
There isn't a Minecraft 2 because Notch is more interested in making new games than creating a sequel. The point of making a Terraria 2 (from what i've heard) is that there are limitations to the engine used for Terraria that prevent them from doing certain things with the game that they'd like to. I don't know what those limitations are or what they're preventing Redigit from implementing but that was the official word last i'd heard.
Also, Red would probably like to get paid again for his work at some point. You can only sell so many new copies of the same 2 and a half year old game before new content stops being worth the effort financially. Considering how many of those sales were likely at 50-75% off an already ridiculously low $10 price tag, I could hardly blame him for wanting to move on based on that alone.
And I think there are much more reasons.
Anyway I'll be glad when they release Terraria 2. :D
You're welcome.
That would make sense.
As will I. =]
I'm not sure which game you're even referring to here since both Terraria and Minecraft have been discussed here in regards to updates. If you mean Terraria, maybe not but I doubt Redigit's plans for the future involved working on Terraria forever. If you mean Minecraft, I honestly don't think Notch gave it that much thought since I doubt he ever imagined he'd be this successful with Minecraft. Once Minecraft exploded, it didn't really matter what his previous plans had been because he immediately jumped into publisher mode and got his team working on various other projects.
