why carnt i swim up

when i try to swim up in water i just jump i have a jump booster so i thaught i could've got out

You need Flippers (from Water Chest) to do that. Other accessories that work are Diving Gear, Jellyfish Diving Gear, Arctic Diving Gear and Neptune's Shell.

It surprised me, too, that you couldn't swim by default, but when you consider all the stuff you're normally carrying... I suppose I can't complain I don't crush myself under the weight of my own inventory in the first place.

You can also fly up through water if you have wings of any sort.
