speeding up time

its so irritating waiting for night to come to try a boss again.

that 12 minutes takes an eternity...and then the 12 minutes you get at night never seems to be long enough lol.

early game it feels like the nights take an eternity and the days are too short.

i'm proposing not to shorten the cycles but instead, perhaps, allow the player to go home and sleep in their bed to speed the passage of time.
while sleeping, time could advance maybe 4 times as fast so you can sleep through a day in 4 minutes and the tradeoff is that you can't do anything while sleeping.

i'm in endgame and theres not really anything left for me to do while i'm waiting for night to try the frost moon again and it feels like its just an obnoxious timesink

and yeah i understand they want to limit people being able to exploit the frost moon by summoning it again and again but still i'd like to see a way to speed up the day so i can get to night again.

and then its like...only 2 sunrises in an hour = only 2 chances for an eclipse
i have 425 hours in the game and have only seen 2 eclipses and the terra sword isnt even that good.
its easier to get a key mold than the broken hero sword

Would be really cool to be able to sleep or something. Farming christmas and halloween invasions was a pain.

This is a really good idea. I still don't understand why you can't skip night or sleep at all anyway, but I am also at the end of the game. Nothing left to do but try the Frost Moon.

There is a bed but it is only used for respawning.

you can't "sleep" in the bed to make the time go by faster. that's what this thread was about

I think it is a good idea but you would have a choice, either setup your spawn or sleep.

run terrariaserver.exe and type in the time you want. dawn noon dusk or midnight

I just sit there rapidly clicking the Grandfather clock and time seems to speed up :p

i think it is 15mins for day and 9mins for night.

might be why it seems to take longer

Maybe create 2 items. When you wear one it slows the day and night time passing by x2, when you wear the other day and night cycles go by twice as fast. Host has priority, using both bottom slot is priority. Could be a watch upgrade that shows time. I use a watch alot and would love to speed up the night actually, it's always a portion of wanting mid day to night or night to morning to come faster for me. Longer days, shorter nights.

I know I could console command it, but it's messy imo. Maybe combine the watches to create an activatable hotbar item that freezes everything pve for 10 seconds once a day/night cycle. I dont' always want to mirror, maybe I can use it to escape or something, inflict a bit more damage. Could even limit consecutive mp use every 5 mins. Make the slow/fast timer recipes midgame and the stop timer endgame with rare drops. I'd be interested.
