Palladium is better than Cobalt
Probably a glitch, but Palladium can mine Mythril/Orichalcum, but Cobalt can't. Not sure if this a glitch or design feature, but eh. Cobalt is only good because it looks cool. Otherwise, Pallidium is better

If cobalt can't, then how are you supposed to go up tiers? I think cobalt CAN mine mythril and orchalcum with my logic.

Yeah, I got Cobalt in my world and obviously you can use it to mine the second tier of ore (in my case, Orichalcum). If you couldn't, you'd have to move straight from Cobalt to Hallowed Bars, that'd be silly.

what the OP is saying is that in the old prepatch days you had 3 tiers of hard mode ore.
cobalt
mythril
adamant

cobalt mines mythril and mythril mines adamant

now they have alternates to the first 3 tiers

palladium < orihalcum < titanium

in the old days you had to use cobalt to get mythril then make mythril to get adamant.

but palladium can skip right past orihalcum and mythril and mine adamant and titanium

i noticed this too

Ooooh, so Palladium is a tier 1 Hardmode ore than can mine tier 3 Hardmode ore?

Now that's a big anomaly, probably an oversight. Fortunately very easy to fix, I imagine it's on the to-do list.
