More randomly disappearing items

I'm sure some of you know this one already. I log out after playing Terraria and finding/buying some new items, and then the next day I log back in and random items from my inventory are gone. Frustrating when I spend a lot of gold or when I find something rare.

I've searched google and all that already, but every post I've found on this issue is at least 6 months old and with nothing resolved.

So is there a fix for this yet short of reinstalling and praying?

It seems like a rare occourence, and for me it's not happening all the time. I haven't read that it was as bad as Toxik is saying.

Also toxik, you want to get in an online game? I can help you farm up some of those riches you lost, and it'd be cool to have someone to play this with :D

Unfortunately, if not as luckily I nearly had lost my entire world lost because the back-up disappeared at random after a few hours of gameplay when I had my server up. It about irks me this can happen quite abit in this game, but all I can say is guys back up your Terraria folders regularly. If you have Windows (not sure if it works for Xp) the restore function might work, or tricky the game with re-naming the files between the plr. and .bak folders. *Either or etc. you always do the back up first.

Hmmm I had this happen a few days ago and thought it was just my mind playin tricks on me. But I guess it did I only remember losing a lot of lead bars wierd! "Goes to back up files this instant"!

The game makes backups of your characters and worlds, so it's unlikely that you would lose both the main file and the backup.

Additionally, you should make backups manually to some other storage device. I actually make two backups, keeping one from the previous session since I'm not 100% sure if a save file isn't compromised after I quit.

I've never encountered any lost character/world errors, but if it happens I won't lose everything.

Good idea with the backing up. I wish I knew if the items were lost at log out or log in, then I'd feel better about backing up after every Save & Exit. I know this happens a bit in online/lan, but it's happening to me in singleplayer. Wish there was more info. Backing up all the time can get tiresome.
