How is it possible to summon The Destroyer before Hardmode?

According to the Wiki, you can summon and maybe kill The Destroyer before Hardmode. Yet one of the materials is a hardmode material.
I assume you have to have a world in Hardmode to get the 5 Souls of Night required (and have a Mythril Anvil) to make a Mechanical Worm, then go back to a Standard world. Yet the wiki never says this.

Someone please explain. I'm actually curious, as defeating The Destroyer is the only way to get the Steampunker.

It is possible by setting up a server (which is hard for most people) and setting up the T-Shock plug-in. I highly reccomend getting into hardmode and getting better armor so your rump wont get destroyed by the Destroyer.

I beleive you arn't able to spawn the destroyer in a normal world. If you want the steampunker without hardmode, you could use TEdit.

My best guess is indeed to simply bring the item into a pre-Hardmode world. If the item is usable before Hardmode, that'd be the way to do it.

I'm new to the game and didn't write anything on the wiki though, so who knows if the person who did used legit means.

Yep. I just took a mechanical worm to a normal world and spawned him. It works.
