Does Chlorophyte farming still work?

I've done everything as I've been told. It's in the Underground and lower. There are at least 38 tiles between each of the 5x5 cubes... the Chlorophyte just isn't growing.
I have been waiting for hours and I've tried restarting the server and farm it at different places, but it just doesn't want to work.

Yeah it still works, it just takes a very long time.

Changelog says that since feb 13 of this year chlorophyte is rarer and spreads slower.

The trick is to space the chlorophyte farther apart. too much chlorophyte in close proximity will stunt any growth.

my preferred method is to make a 3x mud lined helevator, plant jungle grass, put a few starter pieces of chlorophyte spaced roughly 25 apart. Once the grass grows out, then the chlorophyte will start growing on it's own.
