Clockwork assault rifle vs Phoenix blaster

what do you think what is better for hardmode

why do you even need to debate this? clockwork assault rifle. phoenix blaster does, what, around 9 more damage? clockwork rifle fires 3 bullets at the time phoenix would do one, no matter how fast you click(which means higher DPS). clockwork rifle also has the pleasure of autoclick so you dont have to click like crazy to kill something. also, when combined with crystal bullets clockwork can make skeletron prime and other hardmode bosses seem like king slime.

Phoenix Blaster is better for enemies with higher defense, since it has more per-hit damage and the burn damage is nice when fighting enemies susceptible to it. I've never found CAR to be that good because of its low damage.

phoenix blaster doesnt deal burn damage, what are you talking about? also, by the time you encounter an enemy with high enough defense you'll switch to the phoenix blaster you will probably have gotten the mega-shark. and keep in mind that the clockwork assault rifle deals around 26 damage when no defense is involved due to ammo adding in damage. when clockwork assault rifle is given crystal bullets, it demolishes nearly everything. also, phoenix blaster has a limit of clicks per second due to the short use time in it and therfor clockwork assault rifle far outclasses it imo. you have to CLICKCLICKCLICK to get it close to clockworks tier. -a very dedicated clockwork assault rifle fankrampus

Use the clockword assault rifle for now. If you want to do really have damage, use the star cannon. But build a Megashark as soon as possible!
