Why no fireblossom seeds?
I can't get any fireblossom seeds at all. I understand that it has to be in bloom before it will give you seeds when you harvest it but I'm not getting any seeds when I harvest a full bloom in the underworld.

Likewise when I've found a young shoot on ash block and submerged it in lava it doesn't grow.

I figured my previous completed world must have some seeds because I collected just about everything there is so loaded that up and what a surprise I have no fireblossom seeds in that world either.

What's going on? All I've got are full blooms that I cannot turn into seeds or plant!

It has to be in bloom and under lava. Submerge it in a lavabath as you pick it. Put 1 block on both sides, 1 bucked and dump it in.

I've tried that multiple times but it still doesn't grow. When I pick it I just get one bloom and no seeds.

Not sure what is going on there. If it has the full flower and isn't giving seeds it must be bugged. New plants may not be bugged. I don't know what to tell ya. Not much else you can do.

If you need help with things always just check the wiki.

I did, hasn't helped.
it might have to naturally spawn in lava or your not giving it enough time to bloom, its in no way fast to bloom when you submerge it in lava.

Just a thought: Wait until you know the plant is full-grown (this might be difficult to tell because the plant is so small) and submerge it in a pit with multiple buckets of lava. One or two buckets might not work. You might need to submerge the plant almost completely.

Okay, I'll try that. It's a bit difficult while being hounded by fire imps and bats! Plus the shoots are often camouflaged against the background of the under world which makes them hard to spot.

Nope. Still can't grow any. I found a blossom in hell and got three seeds but when I plant the seeds at my house on the surface I get nothing. I've tried growing them in pots and ash blocks and various depths of lava but my fireblossom plants just do not blossom at all.

My world is Crimson only, with no corruption and pre-hard mode with only WoF left of the pre-hard mode bosses to defeat. I need the seeds to make gravitation potions to I can find my floating islands before enabling hard mode but if my blossoms aren't going to grow in this world for some reason then I'm a bit stuck.

is this something new? i could have sworn those fire flowers in the underword don't need to be submerged.
i always wound up getting tons of them just while setting up my battlefield for wall of flesh. when i go down to the hell for the first time, i will mine out all the ash blocks and then make a straight flat bridge about a quarter of the way across the map and eventually tons of flowers start growing on it and then i just run up and down the length of it harvesting seeds.

i suppose this is irrelevant if you guys are talking about something new...i never heard of a flower that had to be submerged in lava but i haven't played in a year

Even when you plant Fireblossoms in clay pots, you still need to submerge them in lava in order to get them to bloom. Clay pots are immune to lava, BTW.

I've tried different heights for the lava as well as using ash blocks instead of clay pots. Plus there are hardly any fireblossoms in hell at all. I found two blossoms while building a platform for the WoF.

Are the Foreblossoms that are submerged in Lava in clay pots? It's kinda hard to tell.

Try putting pots in each one of those pockets, planting your seeds in them, then COMPLETELY submerging the pocket in lava and collect them with either a weapon or a pickaxe.

I do not see the sparks... it looks like an adult but not seeding. More lava!

I've got one fireblossom shoot in the second clay pot from the left, i.e I just planted the seed. Each pocket with lava has one bucket of lava in it but I've also tried two buckets, bringing the lava level up to the top of the obsidian brick wall. The shoots all stay in this juvenile state and never grow. I've also tried three blocks high and more and wider pockets.
