ive created 3 new worlds, and in all of them i go to both oceans and cant find the angler either swimming, or sleeping. idk if this is a glitch or maybe he spawns after a couple days but i have him on my other worlds.

Do you play on this world online? The Anger NPC was introduced in 1.2.4 and you need to play online in order to update your game.

Some people have found him floating on top of the water. A lot of the time he can be found lying down (yes, lying down) and he is smaller than the other NPCs so you may really need to look for him. He'll even appear on an Ebonsand/Crimsand beach.
all the worlds i have found him on have plain beaches, but all of my new worlds without him seem to have crimsand beaches. maybe he doesnt like crimsand?

sometimes you have to fish a little bit for him to come

That could be. Once NPCs move into the houses you build for them, they will vacate when Corruption and Crimson get too close.

On the other hand, when I found the Angler NPC in my primary world, much of the beach he was sleeping on had been claimed by the Crimson. I dunno, maybe I am missing something. Try purifying your beaches and see if that helps.

I hadn't fished at all before I found the Angler NPC in my primary world.

He spawns like normal mobs whenever you're near the ocean biome. This means that if you just run around a bit, eventually he'll spawn. Anything that increases enemy spawn rates, like Water Candles and Battle Potions, should also increase his chances of spawning.

Yup he should just spawn by the water, snoozin away.

Fun fact though, if you kill the angler when he is sleeping he will die the same way a wraith does, he poofs and hisses the same way a wraith does when it dies.

Yeah, just be careful about doing that. If you somehow kill the Mechanic NPC before freeing her, she won't come back. The same may be true for the Angler NPC.

Mechanic not sure but Angler will reappear again later.

After you wake him up, or before you wake him up? Because before you free an NPC or wake them up the game apparently considers them to be enemy mobs.

Oh i killed him whilst he snoozed later on found him in the same location. I was however playing a game with someone else during the time i killed him and it was my friend who came across him the second time.

Ah OK. I'm still a bit skeptical but I suppose it is possible he could respawn.

Anyway, my apologies for derailing the thread. It seems the OP won't have as tough a time finding their Angler NPC as was initially thought after all. Good luck, OP.
