Maybe it does have something to do with it... or it's just a big coincidence
If that's true, it's rather quite worth investigating. Having the new strip of crimson/corruption spawn right in the middle of your jungle when you first start hardmode can and will cause problems. If this trend is true, it means we can control which side that nasty biome spawns on!
If it is true, then the wall should always be fought on the side of the world where the dungeon is. I'd test it now, but I've got stuff to do today. Shouldn't even be posting on the Terraria steam forums at all right now...
BTW when you say east, you mean right hand player side, correct? Because there's that slightly confusing choice of making the sun rise in the west in Terraria.
I for myself dont know if this theory is correct. But my current world got the crimon inside the jungle lol. But if i remember correctly the first time wof kill was more on the side towards the west. But wof got first summoned more on the east side from spawn point, but ultimatelly died in the west part of the map.
So hypothetically speaking what would be important, where the wof DIED or SPAWNED `? Or would even both be important ?
ill do some tests and post results
Edit: tested it about 1500 east got 1 time crimson 1 time hallow so its not WOF-side dependent
Well, that's my point. Lots of people have wondered if the location of the WoF's death has to do with where the biomes pop up, but so far no one has been able to confirm it. Considering the game has been out for several years now, its code is readily available, and plenty of people have asked this question before, you would think that, if it were true, it'd be common knowledge. Since it isn't, the chances are much better that it's just random, even though I haven't found confirmation of that either (but it'd be simpler, so, y'know, Occam's Razor).
I just tested it myself and the Hallow spawned on the side where the WoF was summoned and died, which goes contrary to reports from other people.
And hallow still spawns on the right for me ._.
