Bed Not Setting Spawn Point
As of recently, me and a friend had decided to move our spawn point a little further up from where we had set it due to us getting spawnkilled via Mourning Wood and Pumpkings in doing so, we set up a larger spawn area directly above and did the following procedures to make it into valid housing, etc etc.

Well unfortunately for SOME reason, the space is not being recognized as valid housing and therefore are unable to set our bed spawnpoints. I currently have screenshots showing the entirety of the house here: http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/Xenoplsonion/Screenshot_zpsmz15eq8c.png

The area in which the trophies and the very bottom with the mounted Death Scythe are consided valid and only need the table and chairs to do so.
The small area where the jellyfish are was are original bed spawn, which is now also considered not valid.
The pumpkin area was added there prior and didn't interfere with the original spawnpoint and we even removed it to see if it was the issue, and it was not. The large glass walled area in the new spawn location we are trying to set and that too is invalid. The glass blocks that are blocking the doors are connected to Actuators to allow quick entrances and exits without baddies getting inside

Again we have all the basics we need, wall, tables, chairs, doors, and it for some reason isn't being seen as valid and it's frustrating both of us.
If anyone can help or can see anything that maybe interfering with it, it would be grealy appreciared. Thank you in advance

You do not need valid housing for a spawn point, all you need is a room (can be all platform around, no need for a solid block to stand on for npc) with back walls. Needs to be at least 60 Blocks in size (including frame) I think. But you don't need light, nor table, nor chair, just a bed.

But your room may be too big (could be the max of 750 blocks, including frame, applies to spawn point too). You could extend the platform from the middle to the far left, and down on the left side of the middle part, to see if that does the trick (then rethink what to do to make it pretty). You can remove the dresser.

I can't spot jellyfish, btw.

Just curious, why not Steam screenshots? They'd be bigger and easier to look at. :)

Also, nice house. :) With Screenshots I could give it a thumbs up. ;P

I've not used Steam long enough to even know that there was a built in screenshot system tbh. But I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'll be sure to upload another screenshot that's better in quality once I can figure it out.

Alright so now that I actually had time to relax and calm the raging headache that this spawn point was causing, I determined the cause of the issue.

Where I'm currently standing was the area that was causing the issue. In the screenshots posted earlier, this platform was larger and and hammered to also have a staircase look at the left and rightmost sides and apparently game said no.

So after the suggestion by the person above (Thanks btw) I decided to quickly patch up the area between the pumpkin patch and the room with the jellyfish laterns and behold the beds registered and set the spawn point.
So I added a 3 block wide wooden platform (Which again I'm standing in the screenshot now) and it's still considered valid housing.

Oh, now I see the jellyfish in the bowls!

And yay for solving it. :)

Btw, you seem like a nice person, Xeno State Of Mind. Throw me a friend request if you like.

Hi!

I've been having a similar problem. I've tried moving the bed around the room, as well as moving it to different floors of my house. Is there a height limit for this? Is there anything I can do to get this to work?

Thanks,
Novareia

It's probably better to make a new post than to bump this 3-year-old one, but that's ok.
Do you have a screenshot of your room? The room needs to be more than 60 tiles (frame included) but less than 750, so if your house is open or all connected, the bed won't work.

Basically, it needs to meet all the requirements of this, but doesn't need a table, light or chair.

You also have to right-click the bed (just in case you forgot to do that), it'll then tell you it set spawn point if it works.

Dug out this screenshot for you, hope it helps.
