Having trouble finding the Jungle Temple.

I have a large world, and I've got the temple key to get into the Jungle Temple, but I can't find it.
I've been searching for hours, and maybe covered about 1/3 of the underground jungle area and no sign of it.
Roughly what depth is it? And also should it be in the middle of the jungle, or can it be near the sides?
Ideally I'd like depth ranges in blocks so I can use my GPS and know exactly where to look.
But failing that, is it really far below the surface? Is it above where the lava starts? Anything will help narrow my search. The wiki doesn't seem to have much info on its location aside from "Its deep in the underground jungle".

I don't know more than wiki says on location, but if you're really desperate, I suggest checking the map with a map viewer:

Well, I was desperate enough to use MoreTerra. It was quite interesting to see the whole world.

My jungle temple is pretty much exactly at mid depth, but isn't really in the jungle. About half would be in the jungle (at the edge) and the other half is sticking out of the jungle towards the sea. Now wonder I couldn't find it. I was searching all through the centre.

Also a while back I was looking for the lava charm for ages. So I thought I'd use MoreTerra to check where they were (I bit cheaty I know, but good thing I did). Turns out there's only 4 chests in the entire large world that have them, and they are all right next to each other underneath the dungeon. Seems the map generator trolled me hard.

I used MoreTerra to find stuff too. For me it's just no fun to explore/dig around randomly with possibly no chance to find what I'm looking for on that world. (Like, 13 worlds - after the fifth I went from small to medium - to get a sandstorm in a bottle.)

I wouldn't want to edit a world (except maybe after a crash - and perhaps if they will add world generation stuff that I can't get into my world any other way), but looking is just turning tedious into fun for me. :)

I hate exploiting. But the common area for a jungle temple is around the middle part of the jungle more above Hell.

Well when i wanna find stuff i just use my clentaminator

@insert_name How can I use the cleminator to find the jungle temple???? ive been having this same problem.

By using the clentaminator you can illuminate areas you can't see as easily, thus letting you get a bigger search area in less time.

I recommend TerraMap - just used it as a result of this thread. Seems pretty good and easy to use. Basically it just worked whereas another one I used didn't.

Not trying to necro this thread, but --

(1) I searched the jungle caves forever in pre-hardmode, never found the temple.

(2) Found the temple the instant I defeated Plantera.

(3) It was 2/3rds of the way to the surface, compared to the beehive (for the pre-hardmode Queen bee boss), which is 1/3rd of the way to the surface. Makes sense.

Thank you I was originally tryna look around the middle of it, looking in dark spots but I wasnt able to find it until i saw this, turned out it was near the bottom of the world
