Any tips for Skeletron?

I want to progress through the game so I need to go into the dungeon. Yet before I can do that I have to defeat Skeletron, otherwise I'll get one shot by the dungeon guardians. So can somebody please give me tips on how to defeat skeletron.

Hit it with ranged weaponry until it dies.

Frostburn arrows will work wonders for extra damage.

A good method for early-game defeating Skeletron is using either a Ranged or Magic Weapon.

Better choices for weapons: Minishark, Gold/Platinum Bow with best arrows you can find, Starfury, and if you are more experienced, Shurikens, grenades, and throwing knives make very good early weapons.

It's important to make an arena. Nothing too fancy; just a couple rows of platforms about 50 blocks long for easy dodging. Put a few campfires on it for regen, and use potions if you need. Also, try fighting some easier bosses like the Eye of Cthulu if you need practice dodging.

Good armor includes Silver and higher metals, Shadow Scale or Crimtane armor, and Meteor if you have that available.(If you have Meteor, the Space Gun makes it a snap!)

I would reccomend shooting its hands with a ranged weapon or magic. (no melee) Then it is a breeze. Just shoot its head.

I like Minishark, gravity potion(s), and lucky horseshoe. Just keep shooting straight up or down and when you hit the ceiling or ground turn around and go the other direction. The only challenge in this method is not getting too far away from him as he'll despawn if you get to far away from him.

I defeated it with the minishark. Shoot the Hands first, after that the head.

Minishark & 700+ stack of Musket Balls. You can make the battle shorter by using Meteor Shots instead. You will also want a full set of silver armor or better; anything that gives you a lower defense is certainly doable but more risky. Use healing potions, ironskin potions and thorn potions.

All you need for an arena is a single row of 99x platforms of any kind leading out from the topmost part of the dungeon pavilion floor. That way, all you need to do is run and shoot until you get to the end where you can either run past Skeletron's arms or fall through the platform and run under it.

dodge the hands and shoot them
Then kill his head. Just watch for when he spins, he is easy to dodge then!

Minishark and 1000 bullets if you have a minishark.
if not grab your demon/tendon bow and buy flaming arrows.
also grab your vilethorn and use it whenever you have enough mana if your world is courruption.
the minimum armour for this is silver/tungsten.
