dungeon blocks/enemy spawns above ground?

is it possible to create areas above ground with dungeon blocks that will spawn dungeon enemies so i could have rooms set to spawn specific enemy sets to make dungeon farming easier?

If you destroy the dungeon walls and place them again, they will not spawn dungeon mobs so no, you can't. Also they can only spawn at a certain height on the world.

Nope, once dungeon blocks/walls are removed, so is their ability to spawn dungeon mobs.

Not in-game you can't, but you can do that using TEdit. A lot of adventure map builders do it that way. All you have to do is make sure you choose the wall tiles labeled "[color] Dungeon [wall type]" instead of "Player [color] [wall type]".
