not all at once though.
i've come back to it off and on about 4 times in the last 3 years.
so, i call that a good replay value.
although mainly, i only come back when they do a content update so i guess it wouldn't really have much replay value once you saw all the content, so the value is in seeing the "new" content. the next update 1.3 is gonna be the final update so i'll probably come back one more time for that and then i'll be done for good
in a single session, i would say it might take about 40-50 hours to do everything there is to do on your first time through...but that's mainly if you were trying to figure everything out and much of that is digging with weak tools until you can upgrade to better tools and then in the late-endgame, you will be spending a lot of time killing enemies to get rare drops.
or you could just relax and spend hours building structures just for fun.
Character's rather end-game, though, not much is still a threat, but I'm not much for fighting anyway, I like building. The advancement through the game for me was just to get better tools for building and travelling around, and fighting tough stuff is to get their drops, including some costmetic stuff.
The nice thing about Terraria is though, that you can mostly do what you want, when you want, how you want. When you're fed up with digging and exploring, you can go home and build something with what you dug up, and when you are fed up with building, you can go beat up some monsters, and when they get old, go fishing, or exploring some more, or aim for particular item or dye to make your character prettier/scarier or more powerful.
And there's variety in how/where/what in each of those areas.
So, replay value and lenght depends entirely on YOU. :)
Replay value, take a look at the playtime of any name posting around here =)
