Where is Terraria data stored? Not in "My Documents"
I downloaded a launcher for Terraria to play some mods, but I realized that my previous Terraria data is unused. It's still in My Documents but the game won't use that data for some reason. This comes up with some problems, I cannot download maps, cannot use 3rd party editors, or do anything like that.
I've downloaded Game Launcher to run NTerraria and I can't find the data used for that. Could someone help?

If you mean the actual game files, they go here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Terraria
There's a "TerrariaOriginalBackup" and a "NTerraria" executable. http://prntscr.com/67ss9s
There's no real data in there that shows my Terraria data (Not NTerraria, mind you!), either that or it's unaccessable.

The data I'm talking about is the character, world, etc.

Its most likely in your Downloads area. I suggest search Terraria.exe. I'm not a computer whiz so I dont know if that would work.

Maybe you chose a different pathway for your saved files when you installed NTerraria. That can happen without realizing it sometimes. Try doing a system search for files with the ".plr" and ".wld" file extensions and see if that turns up anything.

What operating system are you using?

OP was referring to saved files, not game files.

EDIT: Just realized I forgot the "N" in "NTerraria." Ooops.

The only .plr and .wld files that pop up are the ones in My Documents.
I'm using Windows 7.

And...?

Aren't the ".plr" and ".wld" files in your My Documents folder the ones you are trying to find? Because that should be them right there.
I'm sure this'll explain it, I hope. http://prntscr.com/67t1l5

OK, what you have is a ",plr" file and ",plr.bak" file for amajeekalwizerd. From my understanding, if you do something with an existing ".plr" file in a game editing mod like tEdit and NTerraria, you should also get a ".DAT" file alongside the other two. The problem may be that NTerraria isn't saving your files once you've edited them with the mod. Either you aren't saving them properly or the mod itself isn't saving them properly.

If it's the former, then look at the mod's readme file or some other text file that has troubleshooting information for instructions on how to save character files - most custom-made programs and all commercially-made programs should have one.

If it's the latter, then you may need to reinstall NTerraria. It is possible that the NTerraria program file was corrupted when you downloaded it, or your game launcher corrupted it - in which case you might need to reinstall both NTerraria and the game launcher.
Either I don't understand what you're saying or vice versa, but I'd like to say that NTerraria or the Game Launcher thing isn't even effecting the .plr and .wld files and that it's saving data somewhere else. And I'm afraid if I uninstall NTerraria and the Game Launcher (To run NTerraria) that all my data would be lost.

Neither NTerraria or your game launcher should be affecting your ".plr" and ".plr.bak" files.

From my understanding, NTerraria creates a new version of each ".plr" file you load and change, and saves that file as a ".DAT" file. That ".DAT" file should be there so that whatever you did to the character in NTerraria shows up when you play your Terraria game. Nothing happens to the ".plr" file; the game supposedly reads both the ".plr" file and the ".DAT" file as a single character file whenever you open it up and select your character.

Theoretically, if this is true and there ends up being a problem with your NTerraria when it saves character files, you should see your character in the game's selection menu but you wouldn't see the edits you made your character in NTerraria.

If there weren't any ".plr" or ".plr.bak" files at all in your Terraria Players folder then I would assume they were somehow being deleted. But both your posts and your screenshots show that this isn't true. So I think your NTerraria program just isn't saving your character edits properly.
I don't really play NTerraria anymore, and I play TerrariaOriginalBackup. So they're completely different character files and doesn't run on the unmodded Terraria. When I downloaded NTerraria and Game Launcher (Game Launcher helps execute NTerraria) TerrariaOriginalBackup popped up. When I played it the first time it had my very old characters on there. So I'm not really caring about the NTerraria data, but more on the backup Terraria thingy. I'm trying to find THAT character data, copy paste it, and uninstall it all.
Sorry for the confusion.
Any ideas where the data might be?

By the way I can't run the original Terraria anymore. I have to boot it up from Game Launcher

The only thing I can recommend now is a proactive approach: don't install or use any game mods unless they are either officially created by the designers who made the game they are intended for or they are officially recognized and supported by said designers and they have a lot of good user reviews.

I'm sorry if you didn't like reading that but game mods in general are not very reliable; in addition to ruining the game itself (though that judgement is a rather subjective one) they tend to cause all sorts of complications. If you can get your old saved data back then consider yourself lucky. If you haven't yet then don't be too optimistic.

You could check any old ".plr" files you have - the ones you have might be the ones you edited with your mod. Try loading them with your game and see if they are the edited versions.

If you still have Terraria in your Steam games library then reinstall it and don't use any mods with it.
