He's disagreeable but definately not a troll. I'm trying out someone else's server so I can't respond right now but as long as there are no personal attacks on my integrity then I don't see why I shouldn't respond.
You are a child.
I'll admit I'm playing the devil's advocate a bit here, but I do honestly believe what I'm arguing for (regarding the cheating argument, that is; the stuff about how the RNG works is just theorizing on my part, though not without evidence). And if you'll recall, I didn't intend to argue with anyone until someone tried to call the - what I consider perfectly legitimate - method I posted cheating, and all I've done since then is defend my opinion. I didn't know defending your opinion from people trying to tell you you're wrong was trolling.
If anyone wants me to be a little nicer, then just say so, and I'll happily oblige. I thought that we could all debate this like adults without having to go out of our way to avoid offending each other, but if you'd rather we tiptoe around everything so as not to damage anyone's fragile self-esteem, I can do that, too. I'm not "disagreeable", just frank, at least when it comes to debates.
That's called "being insecure about your beliefs". If you really believe you are right, then you should be prepared to defend your opinion against any attack.
Windows wasn't made by Re-Logic, but Terraria was made to be played on Windows, as I explained before. Every player of the PC version of Terraria (at present, anyway) has Windows, therefore using its features to accomplish things in the game doesn't give you any sort of advantage. Everyone has access to the same tools. Third-party programs are cheating because not every player of Terraria will know about and/or have access to all of those programs.
It's like if, during a chess tournament, one of the players pulls out a gun and shoots his opponent. If you go by only the rules of the game, then this action is within the rules, since there isn't any rule in chess that explicitly bans shooting your opponent. However, the player who shot the other would still be arrested, since the government's laws still apply during a game of chess. Similarly, the program Terraria.exe may have its own internal rules, but the rules of the Windows operating system that contains it still apply. Just like laws are still assumed during a chess game, the capabilities of Windows are still assumed while playing Terraria.
Excuse me, but WTH are you talking about? I seriously have no idea what you're trying to say.
Also, why do we need to tell Redigit anything? You aren't making any sense.
Of course. It was meant to be an analogy. If you can't grasp that, then I'd suggest you leave while your dignity is (more or less) intact.
Okay, so? I'm talking about the nature of cheating, not about whether or not something is rare.
Also, if you don't count items cheated in with third-party programs, then yes, some items are still rarer than others, regardless of how much trading takes place between players. Even if you do count cheated items, then the value of rare items hardly drops at all, since they're still rare to non-cheaters and there's no way to tell the difference between a cheated and non-cheated item.
Uh, 1. What competition? And, 2. Tricks like the ones I mentioned don't let you get "any item" with "zero effort", they just let you get some items with - on average - slightly less effort. In any case, I'm not sure you really know what you mean by "effort", since stuff like the Amber Mosquito is purely luck-based and can sometimes be gotten after only one try anyway. If my friend can put one piece of silt into an Extractinator and get an Amber Mosquito, why is it cheating for me to reset my game a few times in order to feed 10,000 pieces of silt into an Extractinator?
No, it's like going to a casino and some prizes are more likely than others. All these tricks do is give you an easier way to get certain items, or make items available to you that otherwise wouldn't be (which, btw, applies to every item in the game, since you can't get any item without fulfilling the conditions to get it). Things like farms serve the same purpose of reducing the average amount of effort, but I don't see anyone calling those cheating.
You cannot argue that just because something makes a task easier that makes it "cheating". There has to be more to your argument than that.
