Server Error , Connecting to... (Terraria 1.2.4.1)

Can someone please explain to me what porting forward is, and how to do it, in a way so that even a boy from kindergarden can understand it?

Both my friend and I has the 1.2.4.1 update, and we played on her server yesterday, like we've done all week, and now I can't join her.

We've also had 2 other friend who joined us, and 2 friends who could not. How can this be? It isn't anything with their firewall. The port is 7777 as always. Please help.
