Terraria Digger/Builder class setup?

So for a while now I've been thinking of beggining with some builds and stuff, and so I want to find out what is the best loadout, what is neccesary and so forth. So I'm curious, what equipment is the best, what accesories are there to use? Also I want to kinda mix this with a "digging class", what is the ultimate digging-setup? What armor is the best, what items gives me the highest digging speed and building speed?

As for a builder character, there were some new tools and accessories that helped extend the reach of building things. Check the NPCs. Otherwise, a rod of discord, wings, ivy whip or similar, will all help to navigate around to different areas of the building platform.
