Just keep trying. You'll get it eventually. It isn't as difficult to get as some of the other drops are.

I've been grinding all day, man. I'm running out of voodoo dollsa dn my patience for waiting for the guide to respawn is killing me,

From my experience, the Clockwork Assault Rifle is so terrible you'll just trash it as soon as you get the Minishark or the UZI. If you want some spoilers on getting those weapons, let me know, i'll share my knowledge.
