It's obviously the GOAT among indy games. The best one of them ever created. It's because Minecraft is no longer an indy game as we all know.
But subjectively speaking I understand what you mean. There are a lot of gamers who may say that about Terraria. Terraria is a rare gem among games. It was created by geeks and gamers for geeks and gamers. Not by some greedy corporation. Like 99% of all modern games were created not for the fun of us gamers but for the profit. And this goal (to get profit) is VERY different from the true goal of game making (to create fun for gamers). The difference is subtle at first glance but it is actually HUGE. Most of modern gamers don't understand it coz they've never played old games. But I've done it coz I am a gamer with 30 years of experience. I can clearly see that huge difference.
Also we have to keep in mind that Terraria is the actual top-7 of the most sold games:
