Why my Gemcorns dont grow?

I planted gemcorns on stone 3 block space and again, no light sources or platforms, depth is 130, small world underground

In my farm the entire floor is stone and the ceiling is 20+ blocks high, try those changes

Normal trees require grass on multiple blocks to account for the roots that grow 1 block to the side, the devs were most likely lazy and copy pasted the tree growing requirements so it should be the same

Gemcorns do not require grass. I have found some background walls will prevent their growth. They also require a 5 spacing, not 3.

Any gemstone you find in the game can be combined with an acorn, and when planted in stone underground creates a tree that when chopped provides stones, gems and more gemcorns
