HOW TO MAKE A DEDICATED SERVER!!!!!! (NO HAMACHI OR EVOLVE)

I'm getting sick of these people saying you need hamachi to host a server.... NO YOU DON'T, ITS TOO SIMPLE TO MAKE A SERVER, YOU'RE JUST TOO DUMB TO RESEARCH IT..

Dedicated server software download : [ http://terraria.org/system/dedicated_servers/archives/000/000/002/original/terraria-server-1241.zip ]

extract the file downloaded from the link above, copy all the files in the folder. next, you go to where ever your terraria is installed, most commonly it will be here "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Terraria" Paste the entire contents of the downloaded folder into your terraria folder.

an easier way for the idiots of this forum:

copy the files, right click terraria in your steam library page, click properties, click the "Local files" tab on the top, click "browse local files..." paste your server files in there.

How to run your server:

run the "terrariaserver.exe" file, depending on what OS your using, mainly windows im guessing, it will open a CMD window, it will show you your current worlds available or you can create a new one, enter the number directly across from what world you want and press enter or press n and then enter to create a new one, (you should really get it from this point seriously)

set your max player limit (more players on your server more lag),

dont change your server port from 7777 so just press enter (its more convenient)

NOW the important bit, "auto portforward y/n" YOU MUST SAY YES TO THIS, press enter,

now just enter a server password, it will begin to start the server after you enter your password.

when you reach a screen like "listening on port ****"
this means your server is up, that is your console commands for the server, type help in that for a series of commands you can use on the server.

Connecting to your server:

load up terraria, like you would normally, go to multiplayer and click join, not host and play, join, select your character as you would, now, when it says enter IP, google "whats my IP?" or go to http://ipchicken.com/ and its the big number like "90.195.103.6" or something similar to that, copy this number, and go back to terraria, paste the number into the "enter ip adress" area, enter the port you set for your website, depending on whether you put a password on or not, you will now have to enter it or you will just start connecting, if you have done this correctly, your game will say "found server" and start to join and your done, theres your very own server,

How to let other people join:

give the player wanting to join, the same IP you used to join and the port and password if there is one, and they do exactly as you did.

SEE IS IT THAT HARD TO HOST A SERVER? AND YOU EVEN HAVE A COMMAND CONSOLE TO USE. WOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not really dude, ive been playing terraria for god knows how long, ive hosted many a dedicated server, ALL OF THEM HAVE WORKED. TRY IT IF YOU THINK YOU'RE SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CLEVER, THE SERVER CLIENT HAS AUTO PORTFORWARD, I DON'T ASSUME I KNOW. SO MAYBE YOU SHOULD NOT "ASSUME" IM WRONG

You have 339 hours, I have 1900+ hours. I've also worked in IT for the last 7 years as a programmer, database admin, network tech and tech support.

And I'm going to assume you're wrong because you are wrong. Auto portforward DOES NOT work unless your router is configured specifically for that.

And we want proof you followed it exactly. So I want a video of you, setting up the server, on a clean install of Windows, narrating it word for word as per your guide.

yeah no, i will show you the exact set up of the server i do, im not wiping my whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ c: drive to prove your scummy ♥♥♥♥♥ ass wrong, you can watch the recording, i open the server client from my terraria file and you can watch as i set up and join the server. perfectly fine, you can join, anyone else can join just to shut your ♥♥♥♥♥ ass up, im trying to help people by telling them the right stuff i can even show my router settings and i can show i have no prior ports set up on 7777.
