Although of cours,e ont he other hand, you'll definitely want one before hitting hardmode... Otherwise, you could craft recall potions as an alternative. It sucks they have limited uses, but they do actually work much faster than the mirror does.
P.S was it easy getting it?
Tip: craft 2 gills potions and go ocean diving (both oceans can have awsome loot). If you still cant find one you will just have to quit the game and log back in to reset your location to spawn.
True, but would you rather spend ages gathering the materials for them or spend 20 mana?
plus their realy is no need to craft them, they can be found in almost every chest. And unless you drink them like water on a hot day you are not likely to run out
I have no idea where you're getting the 20 mana from... besides, the fish you need is common enough at cavern depth. While it is true that deathweed is much harder to come by, the fact remains that it's true that you don't need many. So how is that spending ages to get the materials? Yes, it is going out of your way to grab a few things, but it's not so hard to do.
Also, magic mirrors can't be found in water chests (although I have, strangely enough found a cabin in an ocean before)

Regardless, he or she has found his/her mirror. I can only wish them good luck with hardmode.
That covers a period of slightly more than a year of the Mirror costing mana and players not starting with any.
Oh. Well, the more you know. I started playing well after 1.2 came out, so things like this are lost on me.
