what are your least favorite aspects of terraria!
im gonna make a light hearted discussion video about some gripes i have with terraria. this is my favorite game and i love every part of it, but i thought it would be cool to discuss some of the less loved parts and i need ideas. (absolutely not trying to spread negativity, i just enjoying seeing different perspectives).

so far i have normal enemy scaling in master mode, fishing for potions, and the lunar pillars in general. and my personal least favorite, having to get the qol items from the travelling merchant

Early game. Pre-BoC/EoW specifically. Mining can be pretty repetitive, especially on higher difficulties where you're pretty likely to turn the corner and get one-shot if you're not playing safe. It makes me wish that the early game pickaxes had faster mining speeds. It's even worse when the map doesn't generate good caves and you need to spend a bunch of time blindly digging around.

Meteorites used to be a good way to bridge the armor gap, and they still are, but not being able to mine them with bombs anymore means its no longer an opportunity to tech up early like it used to be. You need to get a decent ways through ore progression before you can even mine it now.
I used to farm a bunch of spelunker/mining potions early to mitigate the grindiness of digging, but blinkroot is a pain to farm unless you rush to the jungle to get the staff of regrowth. And at that point, the only things you probably need to go mining for is armor and heart crystals, making it somewhat obsolete until hardmode ores.

Invasion events. Pre hard; bloodmoon monsters won't let up! hard; Goblins and Pirates being idiots and mistaking me for the one of the enslaved blacksmiths. post hard; Fairy witch-queen being summoned because a butterfly died in my mob grinder?!

i'd say that goblin tinkerer reforge mechanic is my least favorite aspect of terraria. like i can't stand this greedy goblin taking almost 1 platinum coin for one armored accessory.

Master mode. Devs could have gone down the route of making AI and attacks harder/unique but all we got was a lazy attempt at another Expert mode but this time with HP bloat and more damage. Most of the rewards from Master mode are also just cosmetics with a small amount of mounts thrown in.

I'm also starting to really dislike special world seeds, since they keep tossing unique content behind world seeds like Mechdusa, waffle iron and Legendary mode. Like, why couldn't have any of that stuff just been part of the actual game instead?

The sheer amount of items has always been an annoyance of mine. The game could really use some streamlining at this point, along with better auto-sorting options.

You do know this is a thread about "least favorite aspects" right?

You can't even write a proper sentence correctly, including the word 'sense' and you're calling me a kid with ragebait? Also the part about the world seeds I am referring to is for Terraria to actually have the legendary mode to be selected with the rest of difficulty options and Mechdusa accessed by a summon item or alternative options in any world instead of locking both of them being two special seeds where either only bored people looking at the wiki or people stumbling on random videos will know about.

Pay no mind to them, they're literally everywhere on the Terraria Steam forum as of late and very rarely helpful.

My least favorite part? The sheer tedium of safely entering Hardmode.

I'm really not a fan of letting my jungles get corrupted. That means carving up the land in pre-hardmode, to stifle the spread of the Hallow and evil biomes. That means 8 or so hellevators, with several horizonal shafts to connect them. And that means an iron grip on where the WoF dies, so I build a slime-proof bridge across the Underworld.

Yes, I know the Biome Sight potions and binoculars exist now. Yes, slaying the WoF is supposed to spring new issues on me. Yes, I could persevere until I get the Clentaminator. Yes, they patched demon altars planting corruption all over the world so I don't have to remove the Jungle's stone. Yes, the beginning of hardmode is supposed to be hard; it's in the name.

But I'm on Master difficulty. I might not be on Legendary difficulty, but still: how about I skip all that adversity and urgency, by building arenas and teleporters everywhere and optimizing the fun out of my game? It's not like the Clentaminator can fix a corrupted jungle.

By comparison, I have a lot more fun with installing a network of fishing lakes. I go all out on them: I fish from below the surface for torch luck, and use water pumps to control the biome depth. Plus I add Shimmer pumps, for coin luck. That's fun, that's rewarding.

Preventing punishment with tedium, however, is not fun.

The spreading of corruption. It's probably the only thing that's not fun in the game, though, so yea. The game is a masterpiece.
