Fishron Wings drop rate broken?

I've killed the Duke nearly 50 times now. 5 trophies, 8 masks and 3 Mythical Tempest Staves later, not a single drop of his wings.

Terraria v1.2+ has a past history of occasionally broken drops (Rod of Discord, Sniper Rifle, Uzi), which now has me suspicious of this item's drops.

Finally, after another batch of 20 kills (thus making my total 70 or so), I got my Fishron Wings.

Although in all honesty I sympathize with your difficulty in getting these same wings.

Strange. I've killed Fishron a fair amount of times, about 20, and got at least three wings and the rest of everything he drops; trophies, masks, both magic equipment and all the gamepedia says he drops.

Forgot that the Sniper Rifle and Uzi exist in this game. Haven't gotten those items yet. Sniper mostly because I avoid the Hardmode Dungeon like the plague.

Got the wings on my 4th kill.

Up to around 20 kills now and no trophy. Rage.

I always seem to get pretty good luck with boss drops, with the sole exception of the Honeyed Goggles from Queen Bee, which must've taken me nigh over 150 kills to get. I got Fishron's wings on the second time I beat him, and then a second set on the fourth, and a third set on the seventh or so kill. It took me a bit longer to get my fourth set (I have four characters), but only about 10-15 more kills. I've heard of people having really bad luck with it, though, especially since the drop chance is just at the boundary where unlucky streaks like this are likely to happen to some people (1/15), so my sympathies to those who don't have as good luck as I did.

I love the title of that video, though, lol. I can't remember where it's from, though it's very familiar.

I killed him only 1 time. My reward was the Flairon and a a Jagged Fishron wings. Yeah the Jagged is not the best Forg, but It still the Fishron wings :D

Weather conditions don't matter. They're a 6.66% chance to drop, seperate from the weapons 20% each, 100% for one. For context: trophies are more common at 10%, and a mask has 14.29%
Tbh, just get Steampunk, tattered fairy or spooky wings, as they have exactly the same flight time, less height (91 vs 143, which is only beaten by solar and stardust), slightly less speed (150% vs 167%) and slightly slower acceleration. Seriously, the changes may seem big, but considering I've only ever needed to use leaf wings, and upgraded to tattered fairy just because I could. Constantly upgrading your wings is not needed. As long as you start with a reasonable pair (Leaf wings very easy to get), there's no need to bother with anything else, unless you're that bad at dodging.
