If you have a corruption world, if you have the space and the means to properly contain it, you could actually simulate a crimson biome in order to farm it for drops and materials by using crimson seeds or materials that spread crimson.

...which are dropped by eye of cthulu, summonable by crafting with lens, among others.

buy the "clentaminator" (don't remember from whem) and the red solution, also only sold during a blood moon, i think.
it won't work on jungle or glowing wushrooms biomes

If you do have a crimson world, you have to be a certain depth underground in a crimson biome (about as deep as the chasms go that lead to the demon hearts). They are floating yellow squidish creatures called ichor stickers, here is more information and a picture if you want it:

If you have a corruption world, you are not able to get ichor without going to a crimson world. All the things that can be used to create a crimson biome can only be found in a crimson world. The dryad only sells the crimson seeds in a crimson world, the eye only drops the seeds in a crimson world, and so on.
