Is there any practical way to get bait?

Butterflies haven't spawne at all for me in the past 5 in game days, I have had multiple rain storms but only one worm, I keep running out of grass to find greasshoppers in and I rarely find anything else. Is there any bait that is easy to farm?

A skybridge that must be made of dirt and covered with grass is required for this to work. It takes a while to build and has to be completely overgrown with grass, but the end resuld could be worth it. Then simply go to one end of it (near the edge of the map), equip your bug net, aim straight ahead and start running forward while firing your grapling hook in front of you (it cuts the grass, but doesn't hurt the critters spawned from it), all the while swinging your bug net to catch anything that spawns from the cut grass.

im kinda late but how thick has the bridge to be just one dirt block?

yes just create a post called "SashEX" and you have successfully baited at least 5~ people

here's an idea, at night have 2 npcs in the hallowed and farm lightning bugs
(2 npcs increases the critter spawn massively but reduces enemy spawns)

fireflies are good, 30% bait and lots of them, i think? i always see them everywher and collected a goo 30 in 1 night d(^o^)b
