just pure luck. or maybe use a better fishing pole/baits
The Mechanic npc from hardmode sometimes sells a Mechanic's Fishing Pole for around 20 gold, and it has 30% fishing power.
You could technically craft the Fleshcatcher rod, which is the crimson counterpart to the Corruption pole, and its 22% power, so its mildly better than the corruption pole.
There is also a some sort of Fiberglass rod that can be found in Jungle Shrines, but that only has about a 2% chance of occurring for each Jungle Shrine Chest, so I wouldn't count on that.
If possible, you might want to consider producing several fishing potions to help boost your fishing power a bit, you make it with:
1 Crispy Honey Block made from mixing honey and lava
1 Waterleaf
and of course 1 Bottled Water.
I hope this helps you out with fishing.
As for farming worms, breaking grass/dirt clumps that form on grass is the fastest way, so making a long platform of grass to run across and cut/net bugs is probably the most effective way to go about it.
Rain does help boost the frequency of worm generation though, so do take your time to walk in the rain.
If your in hardmode and your lucky however, lightning bugs will spawn at night in hallowed forest biomes (not sure if the other hallow biomes have this), and they have 35% bait power, so they are fairly effective.
Also, another thing I forgot to mention is that the size of the pool drastically effects your loot table for fishing. The smaller the pool, the more likely you are to get garbage.
You need 1 Bottled Water, 1 Waterleaf and 1 Coral for 1 Sonar Potion.
