I'm up to 21 or 22 worms now, so I guess I'll try with my crappy rod a few times. I suppose if the line snaps three times in a row I'll know to wait until I have a decent fishing rod.
But I tried it twice in the ocean and it summoned the boss just fine both times.
Even got the Wings and Mask on my first kill, that was nice.
In any case, Mechanic's seems to be doing the trick. I'll try, say, three more times, just for a sample of 5.
It seems you really don't need an endgame fishing rod. You can farm Fishron as long as you've got Truffle Worms and a decent rod.
Also... man, his loot is insane. There's a homing spell that does a ton of damage, a bow that fires 5 arrows per shot, and... the Flairon, well, let's just say it's like the old North Pole if the old North Pole had had homing snowflakes.
Also, yeah. Amazing loot - glad its not holiday themed this time so it feels like it might actually belong in Terraria. Was getting tired of running around with Xmas themed weapons simply because they were the best.
I'll have to test the bow; it's not homing and you have to use your own special arrows (it doesn't convert arrows into anything unusual), so it looks less convenient to use. Even with piercing arrows, I don't know if it could compare to the awesome Stynger.
Homing spell looks great, but Sorcerer gear is still all-or-nothing (great damage and no healing, or poor damage and great healing), so I don't know how it'll work in practice. Changing hats in the middle of an event is just... urgh.
Still undecided about Summoners, but the Staff looks fun. Just worried about the aim.
Flail is just fantastic though, I killed Fishron twice without even getting hit thanks to that thing.
And the Wings... man, the Wings. Better than other Wings, plus lets you ignore water movement penalties, like it were air (unbreathable air, but still). So convenient.
More farming tomorrow.
Hi tripoteur,
there is a glitch in the game at the moment where if you are useing a single truffle worm then the line will always snap, if you have two in your inventory however it will work,

hope this helps.
Underground Mushroom biomes. I just made some lanes and check 'em in-between fishing quests and whatever.
Once caught two worms within 10 seconds of each other...
The Tsunami is apparently really good for bosses and moon events, although I haven't used it much personally. But I absolutely love the Tempest Staff, the Flairon, and the wings.
As someone who has loved the summoner class since it was just Tiki Armor and pygmies, it's nice to see a summon weapon that is finally able to pack as much of a punch as the other classes can with their weapons; and boy, do those Sharknadoes pack a punch. With seven optimized Sharknadoes, I can kill Plantera within thirty seconds without ever clicking once, and I can walk through the dungeon and find drops from Paladins that were already killed before they even got a chance to come on screen. Combined with other weapons that summoners can use alongside their minions, this makes summoners quite possibly a contender with mages for top DPS output. I haven't tried the Sharknadoes in Pumpkin or Frost Moon yet, but I'd be willing to bet that I could make it pretty far with them.
And then there's the matter of survival. What do you do once the action starts getting intense, spend all your time avoiding hits and throwing vampiric knives?
In any case I'll be happy to try the Moon events again with the new weapons. The Frost Moon got really hard after the North Pole nerf but the new weapons might just make it reasonable again.
The Sharknadoes aren't very accurate on moving enemies at long distances, but when the Ice Queens stop or if I can get close to them I'd imagine they should tear them apart. They fire really fast, probably at least as fast as the Terra Blade fires its projectiles.
The only problem I'm a bit worried about is a weird bug I've encountered when there are a lot of enemies on the screen, in which the Sharknadoes will sometimes just stop attacking for a while. At least, I think it's a bug, since they don't seem to need to rest otherwise, but maybe it's a built-in cooldown for when they're active for too long. Or maybe their AI just gets confused about what to shoot at. They can still damage enemies by touching them in that state, though.
Spam Vampire Knives, pretty much. Summoning might not get me as far in the moons as the other classes given its lack of bulk, but it seems like it's at least viable now. The new potions will also make the moons a lot easier in general, especially the Endurance Potion, Lifeforce Potion, and Wrath Potion.
That item is currently bugged and does absolutely nothing.
