What is a Slimefish?

I was at the ocean biome and I saw a npc that wants me to find a Slimefish? Does anyone know what that is? I have never seen one.

that NPC gives you a quest to fish up specific fish from various biomes. i imagine the slime fish is either a forest lake or underground lake. obviously u'll need a fishing rod and bait so if u dont have either wont b able to get the wanted thing. and he will change the quest at sun up each day so if u catch the fish make sure to bring it to him as soon as possible

You can't see any of the fish in the wild, they just appear out of nothing when you fish them up. Get a fishing pole (you can craft one out of wood, iron, demonite, and crimtane, and there are a few others as well) and some bait (mostly catchable insects) and fish where he tells you, and then when you catch it and bring it back to him he'll give you a reward. You can get some good stuff through fishing, and he gives you lots of stuff to improve your fishing, so it's worth it to do his quests.
