Where to mine.
i have been mining for couple hours now and i didnt reach to a certain point so where do u advice to mine ? in minecraft me and my friend just go in where the game already generated a hole in surface we jump down and we finds alot of diamond and gold but here it seems i can't find any holes iam digging under my house for hours and i didnt get anything yet :D

Typically, the best thing to do is to look for a cave/mine system that's already dug out fairly deep, you're likely to find quite a few nice things if it's deep enough.

lol .. walk 20 steps in either direction and dig .. dig some more then keep digging .. when you hit lava .. well duck dodge and run like hell for you have dug to deep :)

Just try and dig all the way down if you seriously can't find any holes. In Minecraft strip-mining is useful but in Terraria you do NOT want to do strip-mining. It'll just take way too much time(And money if you decide to use bombs, unless you have a bomb statue) and you wont really get anything useful out of it.

As before, dig a passage down all the way(Also known as a Hellevator, a way to get down to Hell/Underworld easily) till you reach lava or a cave. Spelunker potions also help to find ores. You can find them in chests or if not you can make them when you get some ores stored up.(I believe they require gold ores to make.)
