living tree houses dont work?

i started a world and found a giant living tree and i thought i would make a tree house.
but it isnt working!

As i know, you have to change the background wall. Like if you build into the dirt, the dirt wall doesnt count and you have to exchange it

It's all part of the crafting recipe. You can turn regular wood into 'living wood' but in the same way you can turn living wood into it's wall variant.

but...... i re placed every wall, destroyed all of them refitted all of them, and still not valid

That's strange, that housing should be perfectly valid.
Only advice I can think of is, make sure there are no holes in those background walls.

There is a max size limit on each room. You may be over that limit. Try splitting up the house into multiple rooms, and see what happens.
